The Trail of Wooden Architecture is a joint-undertaking by the voivodeships of Silesia, Małopolska and Podkarpacie. In the Silesian Region, the Trail is 1060km long, encompassing 93 places of interest, as well as collections of buildings featuring wooden architecture: churches, chapels, bell towers, cottages, taverns, forester's and hunting lodges, farming utility buildings such as watermills and granaries – all in their natural surroundings. There are two open-air museums on the Trail – the Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park in Chorzów and the Farmer's Homestead in Pszczyna. Each of the places featuring on the Trail has clear signage and information available for visitors. In order to ease navigation, the Trail has been divided into several smaller sections: The main trail, 326km, traverses the entire region and will form the link between the existing, Małopolska, trail and the planned trail in Opole, the Częstochowa Loop (C): 180km, the Gliwice Loop (G): 160km, the Rybnik Loop (R): 130km, Pszczyna Loop (P): 135km and the Beskid Loop (B): 120km. At the trail junctions, there are 6 information boards for visitors. The Trail is supplemented with ethnographic and historic museum exhibitions in Częstochowa and Gliwice, as well as the museum of the Archdiocese in Katowice, the Regional 'Old Homestead' museum in Ustroń, the Beskid Museum in Wisła, the Centre for Regional Culture and Education in Koszęcin and the 'Old Cottage' Regional museum in Milówka.
