The Castle Museum is part of the once fortified castle, which was later transformed into a stately three-winged residence. The Due to the fact that the castle had retained a large amount of the original interiors and furnishings dating back to the castle's Hochberg era, as well as artwork salvaged from the ruins of other Silesian castles during World War II, the castle in Pszczyna became a museum of residential interiors dating from the Renaissance through to the end of the 19th century. Currently, the Castle Museum is a research institution and cultural centre and, with over 100 000 visitors annually, is one of the most visited residential museums in Poland. The tradition of chamber music concerts started by Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767), the famous German Baroque composer, continues today. Telemann spent the summer months from 1704 to 1707 in Pszczyna. To honour this great composer, the Baroque chamber music concerts held at the Castle Museum since 1979, are titled 'Evenings with Telemann'.
